Dear Y-Me Supporter,

Our Board of Directors made the difficult — yet, necessary — decision to cancel this year’s 26th Annual Y-Me Softball Tournament and Survivors’ Game. We wish we could play  this year, but the safety of our loyal participants and the community at-large is foremost on our minds.

HOWEVER, we of course encourage safe celebrations to commemorate everyone touched by breast cancer. We are happy to announce our Ginger Rugai Y-Me 2020 Summer Games! These games can be played anywhere — at YOUR home with YOUR bubble of friends — as we will obviously not be able to gather in a large group to play together. As we engage in these Summer Games, we will also gear up to #BringBackTheFunIn2021!  Please stay tuned to our website, Instagram  and Facebook for the rules of engagement and the chance to win some awesome prizes!

As we are all well aware, many activities and events are cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, but breast cancer is not. We ask for you to please support our mission to ensure Dr. Kay Macleod, University of Chicago Medicine, Ben May Institute can continue her essential work on the front lines of breast cancer research.

We ask you to still form a team, as usual, via Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/y-me-summer-games-2020-registration-110854131692). Team members will receive suggestions for a competitive fundraising effort, as well as a t-shirt and yard sign as a thanks for their donation!

If you’re unable to participate in the Ginger Rugai Y-Me 2020 Summer Games, but still want to support breast cancer research, please make a donation via PayPal (https://y-mesoftball.com/donation-form/) and Venmo (@YME-Softball). Your support of our mission is integral to those involved in breast cancer research.

AND, if that wasn’t enough excitement, we are planning on selling Y-Me merchandise online, holding a raffle, and partnering with numerous local restaurants for Eat and Earn opportunities. We will let everyone know when these opportunities are available!

Although we are saddened to cancel the 2020 tournament, we are thrilled to find ways to come together in unique ways. We hope you are too!

Our hearts are with our survivors, those undergoing treatment, and those we have lost. Together, we can make an impact to change the course of breast cancer.

Sincerely,

Y-Me Board of Directors
